Dallas Youth Soccer League Expands to 40 Teams Across DFW

DALLAS — The Dallas Youth Soccer League announced this week that it has expanded to include 40 teams across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, marking a 33% increase from last season's 30 teams. The expansion comes as youth sports participation continues to rebound following pandemic-related setbacks.

The league, which serves children ages 6-18, has added new teams in Plano, Frisco, Irving, and Garland, with matches scheduled at fields throughout the region including Reverchon Park, White Rock Lake Park, and newly renovated facilities in Fair Park. Registration for the spring season opened Monday and has already seen strong enrollment numbers.

"We're thrilled to offer more opportunities for young athletes across DFW," said Maria Rodriguez, league president and longtime Lakewood resident. "Soccer teaches teamwork, discipline, and healthy competition. The demand from families has been incredible, especially in the northern suburbs where we're seeing tremendous growth."

The expansion required significant coordination with city parks departments across multiple municipalities. New practice fields have been secured along Belt Line Road in Richardson and near the intersection of Preston Road and Forest Lane in North Dallas. The league has also partnered with several local schools to utilize their athletic facilities during evening hours.

Transportation to games and practices has become a key consideration for many families as teams are spread across the sprawling metroplex. League organizers report that parents are carpooling more frequently and planning routes carefully to minimize drive time between locations.

"My daughter plays for one of the new Frisco teams, but we live in East Dallas near Mockingbird Lane," explained parent volunteer Tom Chen. "We're on the road quite a bit for games, and unfortunately had a soccer ball crack our windshield during transport last month. Thankfully, Faith Low Price Auto Glass was able to get us back on the road quickly so we didn't miss any games."

Growing Interest in Youth Soccer

The league's expansion reflects broader trends in youth sports participation across Texas. According to recent data from the Texas Youth Sports Association, soccer registration has increased 15% statewide over the past two years, with the greatest growth occurring in suburban communities.

League officials credit improved facilities, competitive pricing, and flexible scheduling options for attracting new families. Registration fees remain at $125 per season, which includes uniforms, equipment, and referee costs. Financial assistance is available for families who qualify.

The spring season kicks off March 1st with opening ceremonies planned at Klyde Warren Park in downtown Dallas. Games will run through May, with championship tournaments scheduled for Memorial Day weekend at the Cotton Bowl Athletic Complex.
